Master 2 Internship in Electrochemistry and surface characterization 4/6 months

Project title
Synthesis and characterization of patterned copper-based alloy coatings

Internship objectives
As part of the ANR « SURFMET » project, the intern will contribute to the project’s objectives that is to optimize the structuring of metal alloy surfaces by micropatterns obtained by electrodeposition in order to improve heat transfer while maintaining good durability to shear and corrosion in aqueous media. This includes the synthesis of patterned copper-based alloy coatings and its physical and structural characterization. We will use electrodeposition for developing specific textured surfaces (such as multi-scale hybrid structures). This will include the study of nucleation and growth mechanism by electrochemical analyses (Potential current curve, chronoamperometry or potentiometry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy). Different electrochemical and physical methods such as laser irradiation and/or etching will be associated. More specifically, we are interested in the use of patterned deposits to manage wettability and favors heat transfer enhancement.

Requirements :
We are looking for a master’s level intern for a 4/6-months (from February 2024). The ideal candidate should possess good knowledge of the basic chemical laboratory techniques. Applicants with prior experience in electrochemistry, and surface characterization techniques are strongly encouraged to apply. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic student with excellent writing and communication skills. Also high degree of self-organization, self-motivation, ability to work in a team, and high creativity are wanted. The qualified candidate will benefit from having access to stimulating environment, and access to stateof-the-art laboratories.

How to Apply :
Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest and a curriculum vitae to Anne-Lise DALTIN (al.daltin@univ-reims.fr) and Florica LAZAR (florica.lazar@univ-reims.fr)
